Global trade is being pushed to breaking point and supply chains are cracking under the pressure. The impacts of these strains are being felt well beyond the energy sector, in materials, foodstuffs and consumer goods and particularly by low-income communities who lack equal access to goods. Extreme weather and shocks linked to climate change are only set to exacerbate these strains. And so, we are now faced with the question of whether, and how, globalization can evolve backwards? How can we intentionally transform supply chains to make them more resilient, but also more inclusive? How can we rebuild supply chains in a climate-strained environment?
